Sibling Love

I never ever want to forget this:

This morning, as I do every morning, I woke Scarlett up and changed and dressed her. She was having trouble going back to sleep in her car seat, as she often does...but I had to do my hair still! Being on a tight time frame every morning I have to do what I have to do. I left Scarlett to cry it out while I went to make myself presentable for work. Scarlett stopped screaming while I was straightening my hair, I didn't think twice because really, why would I. Haha, no crying = GOOD.

I stepped out of the bathroom and what I saw brought a tear to my eye! Oliver was sitting right by Scarlett and singing to her. He was also showing her his misia (teddy bear). The look in her eyes was amazing. She was absolutely mesmerized by her big brother.

Oliver has always been caring, but this shows his true character. He is an incredible little boy. :]

My First Born

Sometimes I feel like I'm neglecting him on this blog. I'm not! Promise! He literally does not want his picture taken for anything. Oliver has developed this mean streak anytime he sees me point a camera at him. He starts to scream, run and ultimately ruins any attempts at a picture. He'll tell me "No mommy, no picture!".

What to do, what to do?

Oh well, I do sometimes sneak in pictures. Lately I've been telling him white lies like telling him I'm taking pictures of his sissy (if she's nearby), that's why the camera is pointed in his direction. Hopefully we'll get over this hump soon. I want to get some family photos done this spring/summer but a screaming two year old will not suffice!

Plus I want a nice picture of myself with my 2 kiddos! Is that too much of a mommy to ask for?

Little Lady

She is incredible and adorable and such a little ham!

Someone Got Stuck!

Both Kids Together

I try to get pictures of them playing as often as it occurs. Ollie HATES having his picture taken so he runs away when he sees the camera. :(

They are so very sweet together and I can't wait until Scarlett starts getting bigger. I feel like Oliver will take her more seriously...

Plus more adorable photo ops!!

Whoa, Hey There

So different, yet so similar!

The kids are definitely showing me how different they really are:

*Scarlett still loves being carried more than Oliver ever did.

*She's teething really bad. Oliver started at 3 months as well..but Scarlett is taking it harder.

*Scarlett is a lighter sleeper.  Still sleeps amazing! NO complaints, but once Ollie fell asleep he NEVER woke up. Scarlett is sensitive to her binky. It falls out...she wants it back!

*Scarlett LOVES tummy time. She has been better at it and started earlier then my little champ, Ollie.

* Oliver always passed out in the car. Scarlett will scream as long as it takes for me to soothe her. It is a miracle we have not been in an accident while I try to find the binky and drive simultaneously!

Keep growing my babies!!

Flash Back

Scarlett

Oliver

Even the same toy...well, we lost the first one and replaced it with ALMOST the same one. :) Now that Scarlett is older they don't look very much a like anymore. But it could just be me thinking that. I'm their mom, of course I see all their beautiful differences. :)

Preschool?

Being a mom is not easy. There are so many different ways of parenting that it can get overwhelming trying to figure out what's "right". A few months ago a friend of mine put her son in Preschool 3 times a week for like 2-3 hours. Her son is only 5 months older than Oliver. Then I saw a few more moms do that with their kids who are all about Ollie's age. I started to get worried. Am I supposed to sign my son up too? Is he going to be behind? Is Kindergarten going to be harder for him? Does he need structure, lesson plans, etc????

I thought, as a working mom I don't have all of these options for my kids. I work Monday thru Friday, I leave the house at 6:45 and get home at 5:30. When am I supposed to do all of this dropping off, picking up?

Are my children going to suffer? The last thing I want is for them to not be up to par with their peers.

I'm telling you, being a parent is not easy. You really have to worry about your kids!

Then I realized everything is going to be okay. Oliver and Scarlett are in daycare all day long. They don't just play all day. This is more so Oliver: They learn letters, numbers, animals, colors. They socialize all day long with not only same age peers, but with older kids and younger kids. All they do is so very valuable and Oliver is so smart. He is not suffering by being in daycare.

I realized that sometimes I look too much at my stay at home mom friends. There is a pang of jealousy, I admit. I wish I could just be a mom and take my kids all over town and do fun stuff. Instead I see my kids for maybe an hour in the morning. Work 9 stressful hours. Then I see them for maybe 2 hours before bedtime.

So I've now realized that Preschool is something that we may do at 4, but for now day care serves the same purpose as Preschool does. Though there are some people out there that like to make me feel like my kids are on a lower level because they are not in Preschool. I hate that I let it get to me via a rant like this...Yes, this is my round a bout way of coping with someone else's judging.

Some people like to make themselves seem better by putting others down...Weird...

I've learned though that I just need to breathe...love the people close to me and support those who support me. :)

Our kids are beautiful and we should celebrate their differences instead of making them (and their parents) feel awkward for it.

Greenlake

2 sunny days in a row. :)

Kisses

This is what getting a kissing picture consists of:

Hahaahahahahahaha.

She's my little sweetheart.

Play Time

When you grow up in Seattle you know that the minute there is sun coupled with NO rain...you go outside. It does not matter how FREEZING it is, you just do it because you don't know when the next time it will happen again!!!

Scarlett even got to go down the slide with Mommy. And of course the boys went crazy!

Trying Solids

Yesterday we thought we'd try out rice and formula. Not for any nutritional value, but just to see how Scarlett will react. See photos...Haha.

Surprisingly she didn't take it half bad. A little weird, but Oliver took it more dramatically.

And because I'm known for my nostalgia...here is Oliver at 4 and a half months trying rice and formula:

4 Months Old!

My little lady is growing:

Weight: 13 lbs 6 ozs, 50th percentile
Height: 24 inches, 50th percentile
Head Circumfrence: 15 inches, 25th percentile

Teeny head, but otherwise perfect!

She is such a sweet baby! She can hold a toy with both hands and chew on it all by herself. She turns over with no problems from her tummy to her back. She's still sleeping a solid 12 hours at night and she is the happiest baby I've ever met!

And just as a comparison, my chunky chunk Oliver at 4 months:

Weight: 15 lbs 5 ozs
Height: 25.5 inches

Scarlett has consistently been almost exactly 2 lbs lighter then Oliver. It'll be interesting to see how she grows...

Happy Valentine's Day 2011

This picture was impossible to get. She loves those feet too much! All she wanted to do was attempt sucking on her toes!

So I gave up. :]

Feeties

This is all she does now.

Daddy and Valentine's Day

Rawwwr

On the swings on Sunday!! It was actually sunny.

Ugh

This is all I see when I put her on her back. Before I can do anything, she's on her tummy.

Over the weekend she also flipped from her tummy onto her back! She's crazy!

Sleeping Picture

Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong overdue!!

(And yes he's holding Mater in one hand. If you don't know who/what that is...thank God right now. :)

Here's his favorite bedtime story: Oliver and the Monsters. He knows the whole book and fills in a few sections when he knows what the boy will say. CUUUTE!

The Many MANY Faces

She's so darn entertaining.

Finding Her Feet

All of a sudden today she took some interest in her feet. Here is photographic evidence! Sort of...Haha, I'm not always fast enough.

Computer Freak

She's loving Oliver's LeapTop Laptop. But Shhhhh, don't tell Oliver she was on it.

Since I cannot stop her from rolling, I figured I'd distract her with some tummy time. :]

How Dare I?

How dare I forget to post this picture with its series? Hahahahahahaha.

I'm Doomed!

When George and I started dating 5 years ago he had, this grey golfer hat he STILL wears almost every day (Exhibit A, see picture below). Now he's rubbing it onto my only son, who in turn is rubbing it on to his innocent baby sister. I'm never getting away from these golfer hats (See photos below)!!!!

Kisses for his sissy! I can never get the kiss at a good angle where you can see it! Oh well...one day.

He has an extra hat. "Mommy, put on baby." How could I say no?

Yup, my 3 golfers....
